The NERC DES-Lab team enjoys and can share their long time expertise in the field of Power Quality related to the Low Voltage distribution grid.

What?

The quality of the voltage delivered at the connection point to buildings can be assessed according to EN 50160 with the help of state of the art power analysers. The analysis of Power Quality can be based on short time or longer period of measurements. With the help of our expertise, we can help localize the source of perturbations and give recommendations to the different partners in case of non acceptable electromagnetic perturbations. Equipment considered as a source of disturbance can be tested according to i.e. 61000-3-2 standard with artificial grid at DES Lab.

Why?

With the current deployment of renewable energy sources, eV chargers and modern heat pumps, the low voltage grid is under pressure in term of Power Quality. The bi-directional energy flows can result In over the limit voltage fluctuations. In case of high penetration of static converters, controller instabilities can generate high level of harmonics and result in faulty energy measurements or even components failures. Transient disturbances and their sources are usually difficult to identify.
